Some days, we want nothing more than to go all Pete Townshend on a guitar. Now, Japanese guitar manufacturer, K’s Japan, is making that possible with cheap guitars that you can smash. K’s is even going the extra mile, simplifying the clean-up by encouraging buyers to mail the broken pieces back to the company for recycling.
The “Smash,” which retails for a mere $55, comes in two colors and boasts a light body (making it easy to hoist above your head) and a “Special Empty Body” that falls apart easily upon smashing. In addition, the guitar makes a satisfying rock-n-roll rebellion sound upon impact, a sound you can hear for yourself upon visiting the K’s Japan website.
Users can then mail back the shattered pieces to the company, which will then use the pieces to build a new guitar that they can sell. The official tag line for the product is a “destroyable price and recyclable system." What conscientious fun!
