Harlan Ellison's Third Book Purge Begins
Acclaimed sci-fi and speculative fiction writer Harlan Ellison needs your help cleaning his house.
Turns out, dude is so prolific that he and his wife Susan are calling on fans to help clear out some of his rarest and most-valuable memorabilia in the third edition of The Great Ellison Book Purge, The Onion’s A.V. Club reports.
The former writer for sci-fi shows like The Outer Limits, Star Trek and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour is selling rare autographed first-edition books, scripts and other treasures from his personal library, including two copies of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman: Book of Dreams with handwritten notes from Gaiman and screenplays from episodes of The Outer Limits and The Flying Nun.
Among the more interesting finds are a poster of Frank Miller illustrations for Ellison’s short story ‘Repent, Harlequin!’ Said the Ticktockman, a copy of the Fantasy Cookbook that features Harlan’s recipe for “CafĂ© Ellison Diabolique” (we don’t even know), an H.R. Giger Screensaver for Windows 95 (“For collectors only”) and a $5 Beta video player copy of an episode of The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
For a full list of merchandise, including photocopies of the jacket covers, download the brochure here.
If any of this merchandise sounds particularly appealing, order by calling Ellison’s wife Susan at the number listed on the brochure. The hotline will only be open today through Thursday, from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. and from 4 p.m.-5 p.m., both PST.
