Help Phosphorescent Recover its Stolen Gear

Help Phosphorescent Recover its Stolen Gear

The band whose latest effort, Here’s to Taking it Easy, made three Paste staffers’ Best Music of 2010 top 10 lists had its van stolen after a show at Pier 54 in New York City last night. According to an update from Phosphorescent’s label, Dead Oceans, frontman Matthew Houck’s custom 1955 Gibson ES-125 guitar in addition to his vintage amplifiers, vintage pedal steel and all of the band’s merchandise were in the van. All in all, Phosphorescent’s losses come to about $40,000.

Last night’s show was the first of many U.S. dates the band had scheduled for the remainder of the summer. Dead Ocean’s post indicates updates on the tour will be released shortly.

If you’ve got a lead on the whereabouts of Houck’s gear, rental van or the band’s merchandise, contact the New York Police Department or Vector Management as soon as possible. The band is currently accepting PayPal donations at phosphorescentgearfund@gmail.com.
