Janelle Monáe, Of Montreal Join Freaky Forces For Fall Tour

Athens, Ga. glam-rockers Of Montreal have long been singled out for their, uh, non-traditional stage performances. Remember that time Susan Sarandon spanked them on stage while they were dressed as pigs? Ah, those were the days. The band hasn't been on the road in a bit, but that's soon to change—they're taking fellow Paste darling Janelle Monáe on the road for an extensive U.S. tour this fall.

Back in June, frontman and former Paste coverboy Kevin Barnes told Pitchfork what his band and Monáe hoped to achieve with this tour collaboration: "We're going to marry the two shows together, in a way. It doesn't feel like you go see a band, and there's a pause, and there's another pause, and then it's over. We want to control the environment from right when the doors open, and have performance art and video performances and so many different levels of artistic stimulation that would go on throughout the whole night, so there's never a moment where there's house music or boring lighting. We want to transform the venues each night, so it becomes this exceptional experience for everyone."
