Nick Cave and John Hillcoat Adapting Bunny Munro into TV Movie

Nick Cave and John Hillcoat Adapting Bunny Munro into TV Movie

If the creepy Grinderman 2 teasers weren’t enough Nick Cave news for you, get excited, because there’s plenty more murderous goodness to go around.

Spinner reports that Cave will be adapting his second novel, The Death of Bunny Munro for the big screen. Longtime collaborator John Hillcoat, who worked with Cave on The Proposition and helmed the Grinderman 2 shorts, is set to direct the made-for-television film.

At the Dundee Literary Festival in the UK, Cave announced actor Ray Winstone (who also starred in the Cave-written, Hillcoat-helmed The Proposition) would play the titular character, a boozy, womanizing rake who goes on an insane road trip with his son following his wife’s suicide.

The Death of Bunny Munro actually began life as a screenplay (with Winstone slated to star), but when plans for the film began to fall through, Cave turned it into a novel. In an interview with Empire, Cave said Winstone “was really excited about it, and really distressed when it kinda tanked and never got made.”
