About a month ago, we told you former Sleater-Kinney member Corin Tucker had a new band with Sara Lund of Unwound and Seth Lorinczi of Golden Bears and that they had a new album coming out in October.
The Corin Tucker Band’s album now has a name: 1,000 Years, and an 11-song tracklist, below.
Tucker, who had spent her time post-Sleater-Kinney as a stay-at-home mom and occasionally playing with Eddie Vedder, became inspired to rejoin the world of music in 2009 after playing a benefit show in Portland. Riding off the high of performing again, Tucker wrote a string of new songs.
Some of the tracks on 1,000 Years may come off as less riot grrrl and more shiny vampire, as a handful were written initially for the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack. “They didn’t work for the movie, but I kept them anyway,” Tucker says in a statement. “The themes work exactly. The monsters, beasts and demons, all those things working on you. I think there’s a lot of personal angst in that story.”
1,000 Years drops Oct. 5 on Kill Rock Stars. The band will embark on a brief West Coast tour in conjunction with the release of the album.
