The Onion Releases News from the Future Video

When they’re not creating a new sports series for Comedy Central, or perpetually cracking us up, turns out the satirical news junkies at The Onion are predicting the future. “The Onion News Network” just released a 12-and-a-half minute video segment titled “Future: News from the Year 2137” that gives us a hilarious, yet somewhat disheartening, glimpse at what the future has in store.

Considering the trailer (below) for the episode depicts groups rioting against gay marriage “for the sake of America’s packs of feral children” and fighting between “the one remaining Palestinian and the one remaining Israeli” in the Gaza Strip, it looks like our society won’t progress too much over the next hundred years. Bummer.

The Onion News Network gives the broadcast interface a pretty significant makeover, however. The innovative hologram-like graphics and special effects combined with the news anchor’s latex attire create a pretty cosmic setting for the network.
