Apple Gearing Up for Rent-A-Show Feature?

Apple Gearing Up for Rent-A-Show Feature?

According to a recent article in The Wall Street Journal, Apple is close to reaching a deal with several networks that will allow iTunes users to rent TV episodes.

Currently, Apple offers TV episodes for purchase for $1.99 or $2.99, but this new rental policy would allow three-day rentals of episodes for 99 cents.

A deal with the Walt Disney Co. that would allow ABC shows to be rented is apparently close to being finalized, but The Wall Street Journal reports that NBC, CBS and Viacom are more hesitant to jump onboard. A deal with Fox could also be forthcoming.

The company’s also working on a new device that that would allow customers to stream purchased shows directly to their TV. It may be announced as early as September.
