Built to Spill Gets its Synth On
Finally, an EP for those times Built to Spill fans have listened to their music and thought, “Oh man, this would be awesome if it sounded just a teensy bit more like New Order.”
BTS members Doug Martsch and Brett Nelson have recorded a seven-song EP “in the vein of the ’80s 12-inch remix,” taking their own songs and re-imagining them as they would have been circa 1982.
The synthtastic EP, recorded under the name The Electronic Anthology Project, is available on CDBaby.com or at BtS shows. The titles are all anagrams of the song being remixed: “Else,” from Keep It Like A Secret, becomes “Eels” and “I Would Hurt A Fly” becomes “What If Your Dull.” Clever.
Listen to “Eels” below and more revamped tracks at The Electronic Anthology Project’s MySpace.
