Watch the New Video from John Legend and The Roots

Soul singer John Legend and The Roots hooked up with Common and Canadian neo-soul singer Melanie Fiona to open people’s eyes with new single “Wake Up Everybody.” The song is from the album Wake Up!, due to drop Sept. 21 on Columbia Records.

Shot in Brooklyn and directed by Gil Green, the man behind videos such as Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop,” “Wake Up Everybody” (video below) echoes the same socially-conscious message as the rest of the album: Pay attention, people! Legend and The Roots are slated to perform a slew of numbers from Wake Up! at the Miss Universe Competition on Aug. 23 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
