Ken Kesey Biography Goes Paperback in October

The legacy of Merry Prankster leader and counterculture icon Ken Kesey is the subject of a new book, for those of you who have grown weary of rereading The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test.

Former Rolling Stone editor Mark Christensen’s Acid Christ: Ken Kesey, LSD, and the Politics of Ecstasy, a look at Kesey’s life, work and the culture he helped build, will be released this fall in paperback. In addition to intimate interviews with former Merry Pranksters and Kesey’s friends and family, Christensen weaves in reminiscences of his own experiences in the 1960s and his immersion in the counterculture.

Acid Christ hits shelves Oct. 10, 2010 via Schaffner Press.

A film adaptation of Tom Wolfe’s iconic Merry Prankster travelogue, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, directed by Gus Van Sant, is set to be released in 2011.
