Ben Keith, a guitarist best known for his work with Neil Young, died last week of a heart attack while staying at Young’s California ranch. He was 73.
Keith, a major figure in the Nashville country music scene as a session player, played alongside Young extensively after the two met in 1971, according to The Los Angeles Times. Recently, Keith was touring with Young’s wife, Pegi. Keith last performed with Young in October.
Keith also worked as a producer, most notably on Jewel’s 1995 Pieces of You.
