Rosanne Cash focused most of 2009 on releasing The List, a collection of covers that featured Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Tweedy, Elvis Costello and Rufus Wainwright. Earlier this year, she announced a new album via Twitter that she will be begin recording with Billy Bragg and Joe Henry in November. But before the recording sessions begin, Cash will release a memoir, Composed, with Viking Press.
The book, which comes out Aug. 10, is based on “her recollections growing up as Johnny Cash’s eldest daughter and coming into her own as a performer, daughter, and mother.” Cash is set to appear on Good Morning America the day Composed is released and will be interviewed by NPR correspondents for an “All Things Considered” segment the same week. Both appearances are part of a North American book tour that will keep Cash on the road the majority of August. In addition to discussing her memoir, the songstress will also be performing songs from The List and other efforts at some of the stops.
No stranger to the written word, Cash published a collection of short stories, Bodies of Water, in 1996 and penned a children’s book, Penelope Jane: A Fairy’s Tale, in 2000. She has had multiple essays and works of fiction published in the New York Times, New York Magazine and Rolling Stone.Check out all of her upcoming tour dates below.
