The Brooklyn-based oral history collectors of StoryCorps are bringing their eclectic and deeply moving tales to PBS this August through a series of animated shorts, the New York Times reports.
The segments will air as part of PBS’s documentary series P.O.V. and will begin airing Aug. 17 with “Danny & Annie,” a popular StoryCorps segment from 2004 in which Danny and Annie Perasa recall their first date. Other recordings that have been turned into features for P.O.V. include a retrospective of the Battle of the Bulge, an interview with the late, great Studs Terkel and the affecting “Q&A,” in which Joshua Littman, a 12-year-old boy with Asperger’s Syndrome, interviews his mother and asks some pretty tough questions.
