Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen Want You to Join Them on Television

Let’s face it: Summer’s not the best season for television. Luckily, web series abound, and thanks to IFC, we can expect to see a lot more of one of the funniest ones we know: ThunderAnt.

ThunderAnt is the hilarious combination of the brains of Saturday Night Live ’s Fred Armisen and former Sleater-Kinney guitarist Carrie Brownstein. The duo have a variety of shorts, and one of their recurring sketches is Feminist Bookstore, where the two work at a mostly-devoid-of-customers bookstore called Women For Women First. (Yes, it’s as funny as you think.)

Women For Women First is the type of shop that would be perfectly at-home in Brownstein’s hometown of Portland, Oregon, which also happens to be the topic at hand for the upcoming show, aptly dubbed Portlandia. (Bookstore owners Toni and Candace will also be characters in the show.) SNL producer Lorne Michaels is set to executive produce the six-episode series, and viewers can also expect guest appearances from the likes of such funnypeople as Kyle MacLachlan and Aubrey Plaza.

If all of this sounds appealing to you and you happen to be in the Portland area, you’re in luck: IFC is currently seeking extras for the entirely Portland-based and shot show. Check out the details here.
