Van Halen is Reuniting (Again)

And the stage show for their rumored 2011 tour will include an actual, live unicorn. And a full-on double rainbow, all the way.

Seriously though, the long-rumored, on-again-off-again Van Halen reunion album with original vocalist David Lee Roth might actually be a thing that is happening now. According to Spinner, music publishers Warner/Chappel released a statement that the band renewed their administration deal with the publishers and were in the studio, Roth and all, to record an album due in 2011.

And where there’s a new album, a tour is sure to follow. Billboard reports that Live Nation Promotions Executive Irving Azoff has mentioned a 2011 Van Halen tour multiple times, most recently when discussing the company’s sluggish Q2 earnings yesterday. Van Halen reunited with Roth in 2008 for a successful tour, which raked in sizable crowds and $93 million.

The album would be Van Halen’s first new studio release in more than a decade and their first with David Lee Roth on vocals since 1984.
