Watch Jens Lekman on an Australian Quiz Show

Watch Jens Lekman on an Australian Quiz Show

In Australia, they do things a little differently. Who knows exactly why (An abundance of marsupials, perhaps?), but in that hemisphere, they make quiz-show guests do some goofy stuff.

Our friends at TwentyFourBit.com pointed us to this amazing clip. Adorable Swedish indie-popper Jens Lekman (who debuted a new track late last month) recently appeared on a music-themed comedy-quiz show Down Under called Spicks and Specks.

On the show, they managed to coerce Lekman, dressed as Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk and sporting some sweet red lipstick (!!!), to sing lines from Henrik Ibsen’s exemplary realist drama Hedda Gabler. He sings the play out loud to the tune of Harpo’s “Moviestar,” Haddaway’s “What Is Love,” and the Zorba the Greek theme, while his teammates have to guess the tune. Lekman, ever the European gentleman, happily obliges to all of the above, and discusses his awkward meeting with Drew Barrymore (“She was really nice. And really weird.”), who used his music for her 2009 film, Whip It.
