Indigo Girls to Release Holiday Album

It seems as though releasing a Christmas album is the cool thing to do this fall, and the Indigo Girls are the latest to record a few Yuletide ditties.

Holly Happy Days will be out on Oct. 12 on IG Recordings. The 12-track album will feature the duo’s take on “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Oh Holy Night,” “It Really Is (A Wonderful Life),” “Angels We Have Heard On High,” “Happy Joyous Hanukkah” and more.

The girls also recorded three original songs (“Mistletoe,” “Your Holiday Song,” and “The Wonder Song”) for the album, which was produced by Peter Collins.

Amy Ray says she hopes the album will appeal to people from all religious backgrounds.

“I hope there are at least a couple of songs here where people will hear a representation of something they feel during that time — whether they celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah or the winter solstice,” she says.
