S.C. Builds a Monument in Honor of Hootie

This just might top playing Tiger Woods’ reception.

South Carolina’s capitol city of Columbia plans to erect a huge steel and black granite sculpture to be unveiled Oct. 21, according to The State. The canonizing contraption is slated to sit in the city’s Five Points neighborhood. That’s only a hop, skip and a jump away from the University of South Carolina — where that mega-rockin’ quartet formed!

Although the band hasn’t played together around much lately, 2010 marks Hootie and the Blowfish’s 25th anniversary.

Time travel with Hootie and the Blowfish’s “Let Her Cry” video and try not to wonder if the song had a hand in ensuring the limited success of Woods’ marriage.
