Mario Through the Ages on His 25th Birthday

Today marks the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. Over the past quarter-century, our favorite mustachioed plumber has gone through a few changes, as he’s made an appearance in more than 200 video games.

Originally created by Japanese game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, Mario went from flat and pixelated to hairy and buff (check out that version from a Japanese comic book !), and over the years he’s picked up a special power or two.
