San Francisco is one of the most physically beautiful cities in the country. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be the subject of so many songs. (Well, one song) in particular, at least.) That being said, a gorgeous city sure doesn’t hurt an awesome festival.
This Saturday and Sunday, the 2010 Treasure Island Music Festival takes place on Treasure Island in San Francisco’s famed Bay. The fourth annual, two-day celebration of music features appearances from LCD Soundsystem, Belle and Sebastian, Broken Social Scene, Deadmau5, The National, She & Him and Miike Snow, just to name a few.
In addition to great acts playing against a picturesque backdrop, festival-goers can download a smart phone application with detailed information about the performers, the schedule and a map of the concert grounds. Click here to download it for the device of your choice.
The Treasure Island Festival is also known for its green efforts, so if you’re into significantly decreasing your carbon footprint, their initiatives are sure to be just as exciting as the lineup. In the past two years, through the use of Biodiesel generators, the Refillable Water Program and a partnership with Clean Vibes, who provide compost and recycling stations across the grounds and carbon offsets, the festival diverted up to 72% of waste to recycling and composting. That’s the second highest diversion rate at any festival in the Bay Area. This year’s full list of initiatives can be found here.
The fest kicks off Saturday at noon, but click here for the full lineup, schedule and list of crafters, vendors and designers that’ll be there.
