John Darnielle to Perform at San Francisco International Film Festival
The San Francisco Film Society will present 1919 silent-film gem Sir Arne’s Treasure at the Castro Theatre. Darnielle recently developed a score to be featured in the Mauritz Stiller film.
“As a longtime admirer of Mauritz Stiiler’s remarkable film and John Darnielle’s musical artistry I’m thrilled that the Film Society is presenting this unique pairing of kindred aesthetic sensibilities,” Film Society programmer Sean Uyehara said in a statement.
This isn’t the first time SFFS has combined classic film with contemporary music. Some past commissioned works include The Golem with Black Francis, __The Phantom Carriage with Jonathan Richman and Sunrise with Lambchop.
Check the the SFFS website for ticket information.
