Mel Gibson's Hangover 2 Cameo Nixed After Cast Complaints

Looks like we weren’t the only ones a little skeptical about Mel Gibson’s Hangover 2 cameo. Director Todd Phillips has canceled the appearance after members of the movie’s cast and crew voiced concerns over working with the controversial actor.

“I thought Mel would have been great in the movie, and I had the full backing of [Warner Bros. president] Jeff Robinov and his team,” Phillips said in a statement. “But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”

There’s no word on who specifically complained, but Zach Galifianakis is rumored to have been particularly vocal about his feelings on the matter.

If that’s the case, nice work, Zach! Bearded comedians: 1. Hateful people: 0.
