Prince Announces Tour Featuring Janelle Monae, Maceo Parker, More

The Purple One held a press conference at the Apollo Theater in New York yesterday to announce a series of shows.

The artist formerly known as a symbol kept mum on most of the details, and it’s unclear whether “Welcome 2 America” will be a nationwide tour or a New York residency. He did, however, reveal that the festivities will kick off “on a purple day in December” and that Maceo Parker, Sheila E, Cassandra Wilson, his “favorite new artist” Janelle Monae and more will appear.

In true Prince fashion, he closed the press conference by saying, “Bring friends, bring your children, and bring footspray ‘cause it’s gonna be funky.”
