Rhys Ifans to Play New <em>Spider-Man</em> Villain

Columbia Pictures announced today that Welsh actor Rhys Ifans will play the villian in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.

The studio is yet to reveal which villain Ifans will play, however. Columbia president Matt Tolmach said, “We have been very fortunate to attract some of the best actors working today to play the villains in the Spider-Man movies, and it is exciting to see that trend continue with Rhys Ifans.”

The new Spider-Man flick will star Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, respectively. Marc Webb will direct the movie, which is slated for a July 3, 2012 release.
