Thom Yorke, Mark Ronson, Bryan Ferry Team Up for Silent Charity Single
Thom Yorke, Mark Ronson, Bryan Ferry, British Prime Minister David Cameron and tennis star Andy Murray will join forces for a charity single. Sounds awesome, right?
Don’t get too excited. The track is called “2 Minute Silence,” and it’s exactly what it sounds like. None of the stars attached to the project actually open their mouths or pick up an instrument.
The single is being released by The Royal British Legion on Nov. 7 to benefit UK military veterans. "Rather than record a song, we felt the UK public would recognise the poignancy of silence and its clear association with remembrance,” Chris Simpkins, the director general of the Royal British League said.
Because the song isn’t much to listen to, it will be bundled with a video featuring the celebrities staring silently into the camera along with veterans. The single will be available on iTunes, with all proceeds benefitting the British armed forces.
