Start practicing your best “Blue Steel”: Director Justin Theroux recently confirmed that a Zoolander sequel is in the works.
Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are slated to reprise their roles as Zoolander and Hansel, and Theroux told MTV that a script is close to being finished. “The script is in good shape right now,” he said. “I’m feeling very optimistic about it. We’re doing a few little tweaks before we submit it, but I’m very hopeful that I’m going to be working on that soon.”
The movie will reportedly center around the aging male models, now pushing 40, as they attempt to revive their careers. Will Ferrell may return as the evil Mugatu, and there’s talk of a new villain played by Jonah Hill. “Fingers crossed, anything is possible in Hollywood, but I think you’re going to see Mugatu. We are planning on seeing Mugatu,” Theroux said. “There are a couple new villains that step onto the stage, which we are all very happy about. And yes, Jonah is the inspiration for one of them.”
Zoolander 2 will hit theaters in 2012.
