A few weeks ago, a fake trailer for a horror film called Clown circulated the web, eventually loading in front of macabre king Eli Roth’s eyes, where he saw his name included in the faux credits.
“I was blown away when I saw that Clown trailer," Roth told Collider. "Everyone thought it was real, or that I had at least made a fake trailer. I called the guys right away and their first response was ‘Thank you for not suing us!’ I said ‘Sue you? Let’s make this into a real film!’”
A group of filmmakers in Brooklyn that go by the name of Waverly Films created the trailer. The plot follows a father who fills in for the absent clown at his son’s sixth birthday party. His goodwill takes a turn for the worst when this wig, make-up and outfit won’t come off.
