A Grand Junction, Colo. Goodwill customer noticed an original Salvador Dali painting amidst a wealth of windbreakers and wicker baskets. The copy of “The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus” was signed and numbered 138/300.
The consumer mentioned to employees that it might be marked up from its original $10 price-tag. The store now has the piece up for auction, according to NPR.

If it was numbered 138/300 it was a print, not an original painting. Still might be valuable, but I doubt Dali painted 300 of those by hand.
So you mean to tell me that the customer in question, not only KNEW what the painting was worth, but also TOLD Goodwill instead of just keeping their mouth shut and buying the artifact for $10 dollars?
Hands down the winner of the biggest dumb-ass in the world award...oh wait, I get it now:
Grand Junction, Colorado?...check;
A major uber-leftist, hyper-liberal strong-hold?...check.
Yep, that's it - the shopper in question was a liberal - which of course, explains the abject stupidity of blowing off what could be a huge amount of money.
What an absolute, 100% imbecilic moron.
I'm just sayin'...
You would think Paste Magazine would know the difference between a painting and a print.
