The Goonies Coming to Broadway?

The Goonies Coming to Broadway?

An overwrought ballad called “Sloth Love Chunk”? A line of chorus girls doing the Truffle Shuffle? It could happen, because The Goonies might be coming to Broadway!

Director Richard Donner told Collider.com that he’s working to get a musical version of the ’80s classic off the ground. “Hopefully we’re doing this as a musical on Broadway,” he said. "It took forever to get on Broadway. It was a long, long process but it just got a lot shorter because there’s a great writer/producer (Tim Long) who does musicals on The Simpsons which are classic. He just delivered a treatment on Goonies as a musical and it’s friggin’ great.”

No word on when said musical is set to hit the stage, but the 25th anniversary DVD of The Goonies comes out tomorrow, Nov. 2. If that’s not soon enough, check out Chunk doing the Truffle Shuffle below. Broadway choreographers, we hope you’re taking notes:
