At this point, Turn Off the Dark, the long-awaited U2 Spider-Man musical, has been in the works for nearly two years, and it seems like Spidey won’t be hitting the stage just yet.
The musical’s opening night has been pushed back from Dec. 21 to Jan. 11. Fans who bought tickets for shows prior to Jan. 11 will be contacted and offered a choice between tickets to a later show or a full refund.
The delay is due to the fact that producers are still perfecting the stunts and flying sequences, according to executive producer Michael Cohl. “Shows like ours, that embrace the challenge of opening on Broadway without an out-of-town tryout, often need to adjust their schedules along the way,” he said. ”Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has an unprecedented level of technical artistry, and getting it right takes time. We apologize in advance to any inconvenienced ticketholders.”
