Watch Jimmy Kimmel Declare Nov. 17 "National UnFriend Day"

Admit it: that guy you had a crush on in 8th grade, your cousin’s girlfriend’s sister and that person you met at a bar last night are not your friends. They’re not! And it’s time to be true to yourself and them.

Recently, Jimmy Kimmel took some time out from his show to address what he believes is a growing problem: false Facebook friendship. Kimmel announced a new holiday, National UnFriend Day, which will take place on Nov. 17. On that day, participants will “cut the fat” on their friends list by deleting anyone they’re not buddies with in real life. “Remember five years ago when no one had Facebook and you didn’t know what the guy you took high school biology with was having for lunch?” he said. “Remember how that was fine? Let’s go back to that.”
