James Murphy and his bandmates recently debuted the video for “Pow Pow,” which was funded by MTV in an effort to renew interest in the art form.
The video, which stars Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air), was also funded partly by Mean magazine and directed by David Ayer (Training Day). Head of MTV David Gale said the network plans to fund more music videos in the future. “From our point of view, we’re financing small movies with great talent using music,” he said. “Obviously, the better this one does, the more likely we’ll be doing lots of them, but we’re already planning the next few.”
Presumably this means that MTV will actually start airing music videos regularly again? For now, you can watch “Pow Pow” below.
