Blake Edwards: 1922-2010

Director Blake Edwards has passed away due to complications from pneumonia. He was 88.

Edwards is best known for directing the Pink Panther series, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Victor/Victoria and 10. In 2003, he was awarded an honorary Oscar celebrating his body of work.

He leaves behind his wife (actress Julie Andrews), their two children, two children from a previous marriage, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Edwards and Andrews’ love story is the stuff of Hollywood legend: After overhearing him say that she was “so sweet she probably has violets between her legs,” Andrews sent him a note along with a bouquet of violets, and the pair married in 1968.
