Golden Globe Nominations Led by The King's Speech, Glee, Ridiculous Comedy Category

December 14, 2010  |  11:07am

The nominations for the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards were revealed today, and while the usual suspects (The King’s Speech, The Social Network, Black Swan) were all present and accounted for in the drama category, the comedy category is questionable to say the least.

Perhaps most WTF-inducing are the honors for The Tourist, which—despite being panned by critics, raking in a meager 20 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and, you know, not really being a comedy—managed to snag nods for Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical), Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical (Angelina Jolie) and Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical (Johnny Depp). Burlesque also took home a Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) nomination. Apparently being laughably bad counts as comedy to the Hollywood Foreign Press!

The King’s Speech led the pack with seven nominations, and Glee took home the most TV honors (five). Check out the major categories below, or read a full list of the nominees here. The Golden Globes will air live on NBC Jan. 16.
