This weekend, notorious recluse/Neutral Milk Hotel frontman Jeff Mangum made a rare appearance at The Schoolhouse, a small loft space in Brooklyn.
Mangum took the stage in front of an estimated 75 people to perform 10 Neutral Milk Hotel songs. You can listen to five of the songs here.
Ba Da Bing Records’ Ben Goldberg, who helped set up the show, told Pitchfork he’s unsure if Mangum will be performing live again soon. “I really can’t say what this means in terms of future performances,” he said. “This was a last minute show, done intentionally without buildup to let it be as simple and easy going as possible.”
