MySpace for Sale, Google to Buy?

Social-network giant MySpace certainly has suffered its fair share of popularity declines, even going so far as teaming up with the current king of online communities, Facebook. Now, the COO of MySpace’s parent company, News Corp., Chase Carey tells Reuters the conglomerate is open to selling.

Gawker speculates that Google might buy MySpace, considering the three-year ad agreement made in 2006 that earned the later a reported $800 million. After all, Google’s taken a break from “its much anticipated full scale assault on Facebook amid reported disorganization and conflict over the effort.”
