Steve Carell to Document the History of Comedy

Yesterday, we told you about his post-Office post office project, and today, there’s another new Steve Carell venture making headlines.

Carell will team up with David Steinberg (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Mad About You) to produce a documentary on the history of comedy.

Mel Brooks, Don Rickles, Carol Burnett, Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres, Judd Apatow, Robin Williams, Sarah Silverman, Tina Fey and Jane Lynch are just a handful of the funny folks who will be interviewed in the film. “We’re honored that so many legendary comedic performers have chosen to be part of this,” Carell told Deadline.

Steinberg also offered some thoughts on the project: “Short story: Carell’s career floundering. I throw him a bone. End of story.” Zing!
