Venus Zine Shuts Down Print Operations

<em>Venus Zine</em> Shuts Down Print Operations

It’s probably a given, but here at Paste, we love magazines. Especially those with smart, pop-cultural leanings. Which is why we’re pretty bummed to see another one fold.

Venus Zine announced yesterday that it’s shutting down print operations. Jill Russell, editor-in-chief of the women’s music magazine, explained the change in an e-mail statement, writing:

We just learned that Venus will no longer publish in print (also, myself and the other staffers will be done as of this Friday, December 10). Despite our best efforts—and we have done AMAZINGLY well this year on the editorial side, both in print and online—it’s become an issue of finances, as always in media.

The spring 2011 issue reportedly won’t make it to print, but the magazine’s publisher plans on continuing online operations.
