Bob Geldof Announced As SXSW 2011 Keynote Speaker

As we approach the 25th anniversary of SXSW, the announcements regarding the Austin-based film, interactive and music conference have started to slowly roll in. Earlier today, SXSW Music announced that Irish singer-songwriter Bob Geldof would be this year’s Keynote Speaker and Showcase Performer.

The Irish songwriter perhaps best known for the Boomtown Rats will be joined by his solo band at SXSW to perform songs off his latest album How To Compose Popular Songs That Will Sell Well. In addition to his showcase, the Irishman will fittingly give his keynote speech on St. Patrick’s Day.

The 25th SXSW Festival will take place throughout Austin, Texas from March 11-20. For more information regarding the 10-day festival, visit SXSW.com.
