Champions Online Now Partially Free-to-Play

Atari has announced that the MMORPG Champions Online is now free-to-play. Sort of.

Champions Online is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that gives gamers the ability to create their own superheroes and battle evil forces. The game still offers subscription service in the form of a gold membership that gives players extra content like special costumes, more inventory bag slots and veteran rewards.

Even if gamers can do not subscribe, they can still purchase items a la carte, which allows access to individual features instead of a bulk of undesirable aspects. Apart from the Adventure Packs that open new areas, gamers can now access the entire Champions Online world without paying a cent.
