Okkervil River Plans New Single for February

Will Sheff has kept himself rather busy with a variety of interesting projects over the past year. He produced and played with his band Okkervil River’s collaboration with psych-rock progenitor Roky Erickson the long-awaited True Love Cast Out All Evil, as well as producing the upcoming debut record from Brooklyn rock group, Bird of Youth. Sheff even left his mark on The New Pornographers latest record, Together, contributing vocals to the track “Moves.” But on Feb. 8, Okkervil River will release their first new material in a while with the recently announced “Mermaid” single.

In addition to the title track, the single offers another unreleased one called “Walked Out on a Line.” These two songs are the first new music from the evocative Texas rockers since 2008’s The Stand-Ins. Jagjaguwar will release the single in both 12” and digital formats. Okkervil River’s forthcoming LP is expected to be released sometime later this year.
