Columbia Pictures recently revealed that it will re-release Paste’s #1 movie of 2010, The Social Network, in approximately 600 United States theaters tomorrow, Jan. 7.
The move is a bit strange considering that The Social Network DVD will be released on Jan. 11, only four days after the movie’s second theatrical debut, which may have a detrimental effect on DVD sales.
According to boxofficemojo.com, The Social Network’s U.S. and Canadian ticket sales barely top $93 million, and overseas sales account for around $103 million. But the movie came out on Oct. 1, a time period typically lacking in large box-office revenue.
