Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark Musical Tops Wicked on Broadway

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark Musical Tops Wicked on Broadway

Despite the array of negative press attached to Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, the musical featuring music from Bono and The Edge of U2, it still took the top spot as the highest-grossing Broadway show last week.

The superhero musical beat the long-running Wicked by the narrow margin of $58, grossing a total of $1,588,514, according to The New York Times.

The average ticket price is $102.86, slightly less than Wicked, the spin-off of The Wizard of Oz, which charges $109.76. Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is playing to larger audiences, which is helpful considering the constant delays, numerous physical injuries and gigantic budget.

Turn Off the Dark began preview shows on Nov. 26 and is scheduled to open on Feb. 7.
