Wayne Coyne announced on Twitter last night that he and bandmate Steven Drozd are currently working on a song for mobile phones. However, this is no mere ringtone or soundtrack to a cool app. The song is designed to operate like the Flaming Lips album, Zaireeka, which requires the four discs that make up the record to be played at the same time. Which is to say: the new telephone tune only comes to fruition when its four separate parts are played simultaneously on four phones.
It is unclear at this time whether or not this is a project Coyne and Drozd are working on by themselves, part of the recently announced Flaming Lips’ monthly song series or an entirely new project from the band altogether.
Check out the video of Wayne and Steven demonstrating the process (in a bathroom) below:

I don't know of it's just a coincidence (if so sorry if I seem accusatory) but I e-mailed this story to your "tip sheet" last night with all the info you have here plus a link to my blog (http://psychexfutureheart.wordpress.com/) which has additional info not here. If you did in fact get the story from me, it would have be nice if you credited me as such.
The only reason I bring this up, is because the bathtub video you have embedded above is from the last night of Wayne Coyne's 40s. He turns 50 today and dozens of fans have collaborated to make a video for him, which is on the blog. I was hoping that if you did post this story you would include that part of it since we want to do everything we can to make sure Wayne sees our "present" to him.
Sorry if I sound like a pathetic fanboy, but he inspires a lot of people and we want him to know. A link from wonderful site such as site (which I honestly read everyday - and am truly sad about the magazine ending print) possibly could have helped in that effort.
Again. I'm sorry if it's just a coincidence you created this story independently from my tip sheet input.
Well Paste, even if you did take my tips and not credit me, I won't hold a grudge.
In fact, I'll tip you off again about more videos and more tweets. (Also, sorry for all the typos in the last comment - I was rushing to squeeze that into an already very busy day, especially after the original message I typed was deleted when I entered the hard-to-read captcha incorrect).
Steven posted two more videos on Sat. Jan 15, on one of his other YouTube channel (not the same channel that hosts the video you have in this post). He calls the music in these videos "Two Blobs," a name similar to what Wayne calls a recent artwork. It seems possible that the iPhone idea is somehow going to be worked into FLOBs (aka Flaming Lips Objects - a new series of Flaming Lips art Wayne is creating).
Than today (Sunday) the Flaming Lips tweeted an open invitation to iOS and Android programmers to help them develop a Flaming Lips app, possibly an app to play the iPhone song they are working on.
I have pictures of the art, and tons more details on everything I just touched upon at http://psychexfutureheart.wordpress.com/waynecoyne50/iphonevideo/
