Sonics Tribute Album Gets Reissue Treatment

A 2004 album of songs recorded in tribute to early-‘60s garage pioneers The Sonics is getting reissued next month. The New Original Sonic Sound’s lineup consists of several members of groups who cite The Sonics as major influences on their respective careers.

Mudhoney’s Mark Arm, Steve Turner and Dan Peters join Young Fresh Fellows/Minus 5 frontman Scott McCaughey, members of Gas Huffer and Girl Trouble in an effort to pay tribute to one of the bands who helped shape their own personal musical sounds.

The Jackpot Records reissue of the album is being released on vinyl only and will hit shelves Feb. 1.
