VH1 has announced its Storytellers series will return this May. In the show’s 15th season, the series will feature Cee-Lo Green, Death Cab for Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Ray LaMontagne, Maxwell and more.
The show aims to return to the original goal of the series, providing a personal showcase for some of today’s greatest songwriters. “With this new season we want to go back to the original idea of great singer/songwriters who you don’t see on TV very often talking to a small audience about their inspirations – where the songs come from,” said Bill Flanagan, Executive Producer, in a statement. ”’VH1 Storytellers started with artists like Paul Simon, Elvis Costello and Tom Waits. It feels right to put the spotlight now on singer/songwriters like Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Ray LaMontagne. These are the greats of this generation.”
The VH1 original series showcases a singer/songwriter that performs and tells stories about writing lyrics, playing with other musicians and their career in the industry, all while in front of an intimate audience. The series started in 1996 with Ray Davies. Since then, episodes have featured David Bowie, Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, Jay-Z, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Johnny Cash and Foo Fighters, among many others.
