Artist Creates Oil Paintings of Iron & Wine, The National, Vampire Weekend

Joe Simpson has begun a project of creating oil paintings of his favorite musicians, including Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, The National’s Matt Berninger, Iron & Wine’s Sam Beam, Faithless’ Maxi Jeff, The Guillemots’ Fyfe Dangerfield and more.

Simpson asks the musicians to pose for photographs, which he then uses as references for his paintings. The paintings measure 60×60cm. Simpson will showcase them at a solo exhibition later this year.
