After the huge success Booker T. Jones had with his 2009 record Potato Hole, there were doubts as to whether or not he would continue recording. In his acclaimed career, Jones has only released three solo albums, with gaps of 19 and 28 years between each. But apparently his collaborations with the Drive-By Truckers and Neil Young on that last record went well enough that he opted to take another prolonged recording break. Jones has just announced plans to release The Road From Memphis—an album that features another all-star cast.
Jones worked with producers ?uestlove and Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith) on The Road From Memphis, while Daptone Records founder Gabriel Roth handled recording for the album. In addition, The Roots, Lou Reed, Matt Berninger, Sharon Van Etten and Jim James all make appearances on the record.
The Road From Memphis will be available on May 10 via Anti- Records.
