Historic Opera Performances Now Available From Sony

The ability to access quality opera music has left many wanting, but recently, Sony Classical and the Metropolitan Opera have teamed up to offer historic recordings of opera performances.

Four performances are now available for opera lovers on a compact disc: a 1950 Barber of Seville, a 1958 La Boheme, Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet and a 1962 Tosca. This is the first disc of a projected series.

Prior to these CDs, the only method to obtain music from the Met was to obtain a monthly subscription and access music from the Met Player. The digital service provided access to a library of more than 300 audio and video performances.
